new A thing of beauty is a joy forever – Masterpieces in situ

"Explore how art endures, even as life keeps changing."

Slow Art at its best! During this tour, we guide you through the worlds of olds masters and contemporary art and we discover Flemish Masters at their original place in Ghent.

More about this tour

A work of art, created centuries ago for a specific space and still to be admired in that same place? Magical, right? During this walk through Ghent (4 km) we go from one masterpiece to the next. We visit three iconic churches: St Michael, St James (known as Sint-Jacobs) and St Saviour (Sint-Salvator). Each of these churches houses exceptional works by Flemish Masters. They are not there by chance; they were created specifically for that place. Along the way, we also reflect on selected contemporary works of art.

We take some time to understand each work of art, unravel the creator's story and bring the historical context to life.

Fancy this unique Slow Art experience? In collaboration with VisitFlanders, we offer you this tour along Ghent masterpieces in situ.
