The Counts’ Castle is the only medieval fortress left in Flanders. Our guide will tell you about the eventful history of the Counts’ Castle which throughout the centuries  served as prison, barracks, court of justice and even as a textile factory. Inside you will find impressive halls, original collections of weapons and torture instruments. Our guide will lead you through “Patershol”, a quarter with a medieval atmosphere and picturesque streets full of cosy restaurants and pubs. Discover the colourful diversity!

  • Open every day from 10 AM till 6 PM.
  • The entrance fee is not included in this price. Tickets can be bought on arrival or on-line: https://historischehuizen.stad.gent/en/castle-counts
  • The visit must be requested by the Gentse Gidsen at least 10 days in advance.
  • The Castle of the Counts is not accessible for people with reduced mobility except for the bailey.
