More about this tour

You really cannot miss the 19-metre high hill in Sint-Amandsberg, next to the St Amandus Church. This is the burial mound of Campo Santo, modelled after the famous Père Lachaise in Paris. You will not only find the impressive tombs of famous catholics, painters and poets. Also local Ghent heroes like art connoisseur Jan Hoet and comic strip writer Marc Sleen have found their last resting place here. Follow our guide along the many tombstones and their very special history, relax a while on a bench and absorb the beauty of the many monumental tombstones in an array of styles, from Neo-Gothic to Art Nouveau/Modern Style. Only recently seventy very valuable tombs have been restored to their original glory.
